Deputy Manager – New Children’s Home (EBD)

Are you an experienced Residential Childcare professional ready to step into a leadership role and help shape a brand-new children’s home from the ground up?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking children’s care provider opening a new children’s home (EBD) in Bexleyheath. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join at the very beginning, influence the culture, and play a key part in delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people.

The Deputy Manager Role

As a Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in all aspects of the home’s leadership and day-to-day operations, ensuring the service is safe, nurturing and fully aligned with Ofsted expectations. You will lead shifts, mentor the staff team, and model best practice while helping establish a positive, trauma-informed home environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Deputy Manager

  • Support the RM in the effective running and development of a new children’s home (EBD).
  • Help lead, supervise and motivate a growing staff team.
  • Ensure high-quality, child-centred care is delivered at all times.
  • Oversee care planning, safeguarding and risk management.
  • Contribute to Ofsted compliance and quality standards.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities.
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, families and external partners.

What We’re Looking For in a Deputy Manager

  • Experience as a Senior RCW, Team Leader or Deputy Manager in children’s residential care.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) — Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, EBD behaviours and trauma-informed practice.
  • A calm, compassionate and resilient approach.
  • Leadership qualities and ambition to grow with the service.
